Let’s dive into on-demand 3D compartment box files!
On-demand generation of compartment boxes is now available on iteration3D.fr !
Set the number of rows and columns, adjust the length, width, and height of the compartments, choose the wall thickness… and get the box you’ve been needing all along.
Certain parameter combinations even allow for original shapes, like almost cylindrical cavities.
Everything’s ready to meet your needs and generate your ideal box in just a few clicks!
And here comes the second one!
After the on-demand 3D files of O-rings, here come the configurable compartment boxes!
It is with pleasure — and a bit of pride — that we announce this new summer template for Compartment Box. This is arguably a more “mainstream” template than its predecessor...
Compartment box? What does that mean?
This template generates 3D files of boxes made up of cavities defined by a grid, or more precisely by a number of rows and columns. The dimensions of the cavities are configurable:
- length
- width
- height
All cavities share these dimensions. Note that the height parameter refers specifically to the height of the compartments (their depth), and not the total height of the box.
The wall thickness parameter defines the width of the dividers and the bottom of the box. The total height of the box will correspond to the sum of the wall thickness (i.e. the box's bottom) + the height of the compartments.
The compartment fillet parameter allows you to add "roundings" inside the compartments. The internal edges of the cavities are no longer "sharp" but "smoothed". This can be useful, for instance, to make it easier to grab small objects stored in the cavities by sliding them with your fingers.

Finally, all edges of the box (including the edges at the top of the cavities) feature a 0.8 mm fillet. This parameter is not editable.
Some special cases...
It is possible to “play” with the parameters to produce “atypical” shapes.
Compartment box can also mean a box with a single compartment! This is possible by setting 1 for the number of columns and rows. QED.
As previously noted, the fillet parameter softens the internal edges of the cavities. It is then possible to obtain nearly cylindrical compartments by setting identical lengths and widths for the compartments and applying a fillet slightly smaller than half the compartment size.
For example:
- length: 17 mm
- width: 17 mm
- fillet: 8.4 mm
Your turn to customize!
Good news — on-demand generation is available for this model! You can generate 3D models of compartment boxes according to your needs.
Time to set your parameters!
